Book in Review: The Boy Kings

I read a lot. I would guess that I average about 40 books a year. It's not uncommon that I spend a few hours on a "me day" and finish a book in one sitting. It just recharges me like nothing else can. I love getting lost in worlds that aren't our own and experiencing things that I otherwise never would.

I love sharing that feeling. That's what this Books in Review blog series is about. Sharing that feeling.

The Boy Kings
Katherine Losse

Quick Synopsis: Kate Losse was a grad school refugee when she joined Facebook as employee #51 in 2005. Hired to answer user questions such as “What is a poke?” and “Why can’t I access my ex-girlfriend’s profile?” her early days at the company were characterized by a sense of camaraderie, promise, and ambition: Here was a group of scrappy young upstarts on a mission to rock Silicon Valley and change the world.

My Thoughts: Honestly, I did not enjoy this book at all. It seems like the author - and everyone in the book - thinks very highly of themselves. They seem pretty sure that everyone wants to be them. I was absolutely not impressed with the book. The characters of the (true) story annoyed me so much, with their sense of grandeur and self importance, that I even went on a hiatus from Facebook for a time because of it. I wouldn't suggest this book to anyone.

My Rating: 1/5 Stars (Can I give 0/5 stars?!)
