Cash Envelope Tutorial

As I've mentioned before, my husband and I follow Dave Ramsey's cash envelope system. In my ever continuing search for the perfect system for my cash envelopes, I came across this printable from Kelleigh over at Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs and decided to try it.

It was pretty simple really. I started with some basic 12X12 scrapbook paper in a pattern I liked.

I cut it down so it was 8X12 so it would fit in my printer.

Then printed the template (found here) right on the back of the scrapbook paper.

I cut out the template and laminated it (with my Purple Cows Laminator).

Then I scored along the dotted lines to make it easier to fold.

Then all you have to do is fold it along the dotted lines and tape it up.

Dave Ramsey's Cash System

My husband and I follow Dave Ramsey's Cash System. The basic concept is that you use cash for all (or most of) of your spending. It prevents you from over spending or going off budget.

Budgeting & Bill Binder

About 4 or 5 months ago, I was out of town for a few days. I happened to be gone on the 15th, meaning that my husband had to pay the bills. I will just say this right now: It was a disaster. I was so disorganized that I didn't know where any of the papers were! There was a lot of me saying "No, wait, look on my desk. Under the pile to the right. No, no. It wouldn't be there. Ok, check in the kitchen in the drawer by the coffee maker." I just have to say, kudos to my husband. He just patiently tracked everything down and all the bills were paid on time! ;)

After that, I decided it was time for me to get my act together! I wanted to create ONE location for all of our bills. Thus, the Bill Binder was born.

Family Household Chore List

This is the Chore List that works for our family. I have it hanging on the fridge and follow it every day. Okay, most days. Okay, Some days. The point here is: It works (when you follow it). And now, I am offering it to you so that you can customize it to fit your families needs and you can use it (and sometimes not) too. 

Planner Printables: To-Do List

This is where I jot down all of the things that I need to do. Anything at all that needs to get done - tomorrow, next week, next month, next year - gets put on this list! This is generally where I choose from for my Rotating Goals. Then I check them off as they get accomplished.

This is what I use to keep track of the many projects I plan to do (most of them are probably from Pinterest! haha) I tried to make it as universal as possible so that it can be used for sewing, painting, building... whatever.

Planner Printables: New Year's Resolutions and Rotating Goals

I have two ways of keeping track of my goals. One is my New Year's Resolutions and one is my Goals for a certain time period (usually a week).

For the Rotating Goals I write goals on sticky notes and put them in the boxes. Then, as I am filling out my "A Peek into the Day" Worksheet each night, I choose one goal and move it from this list and onto there. (And replace that one with a new Rotating Goal!)

Planner Printables: Meal Planner and Grocery List

These are how I plan our meals for the week ahead. I actually try to fill two meal plans out at a time and get all of the supplies for two weeks worth when we go shopping after each paycheck. I also add a blank grocery list to the fridge with a pen so anyone in the family can write what they need, when it comes to mind.

Planner Printables: Budget

I figured out the budget system that works best for me is to fill out a new one with every paycheck (twice a month) rather than having a running budget. I usually do it a day or two before payday and I just insert our income at the top, then in each column I fill it out exactly as it says. The name of the bill that is due, what I expect to pay, what we actually had to pay and what the balance is that is left (if it is a credit card, etc)
